The Southern Highlands offer a wide range of commercial and industrial real estate that is competitively priced compared with other regional locations and Australian cities.


The Shire has a good supply of well located land available for industrial use and offers prime industrial property with direct access to ports, airports and other transport infrastructure.

Prime industrial property in the Southern Highlands costs considerably less than property in Sydney or other larger regional cities like Wollongong. As a guide, high quality green field industrial sites are around $112 per square metre.

Commercial office space is also significantly more affordable to rent in the Southern Highlands than in Sydney or the Illawarra.

The Council is currently progressing the development of a 630 hectare Employment Enterprise Zone between Moss Vale and Berrima. Bordered on the east by the Main Southern Rail Line and the Port Kembla rail interchange, and on the west by the Hume Highway freeway, the zone also has a rail spur line running through the centre.

This location is ideal for the establishment of a multi-modal transportation hub. Commercial and industrial zones also exist in Bowral, Mittagong and Braemar. Very large and small industrial sites are available.
